Failing Retaining Wall Gets a Full Rebuild with VERSA-LOK and New Paver Patio

When a retaining wall starts breaking down, it's not just an eyesore - it's a structural problem. The old wall here was falling apart, with loose stone shifting and gravel spilling out. There was no real system holding it together. Just stacked fieldstone that had given up.

We tore it all out and rebuilt it the right way using VERSA-LOK block. That's an engineered retaining wall system designed to lock together and hold back soil load long-term. No guessing, no patching. A proper rebuild from the ground up.

At the same time, we put in a new paver patio using RCP Products. The patio ties into the new wall and gives the space a clean, finished look under the deck. We also built out paver steps along the side of the wall so there's an easy, safe way to move between levels - no more awkward scramble up the slope.

The border edging follows a curved line that sweeps out from the structure and defines the gravel bed cleanly. That curved detail isn't just aesthetic - it keeps the materials where they belong and gives the whole space a sense of intention. Everything here was designed to work together.
